Welcome to Djelato 🍦

The big one. Approval on its own doesn't list your van — you have to set your service area. Do this and event customers can find you.

You'll appear at djelato.com/directory — the public "find an ice cream van" page. Free, for every approved van, forever. Leave it blank and you're not listed; you can change or remove it any time.

If you're still showing as live when you get home, Djelato gives you a friendly nudge to go offline. Your home postcode stays private — never shown on the map, never shared with customers.

The fun bit. Tap the big Go live button in your driver panel, choose how long you're trading (30 minutes up to 8 hours), and your van pin appears on the public map — moving with you — so customers can see you're out right now.

Live on the map

When you go live, everyone looking at djelato.com — and the app — sees your van, live and moving. Customers get one-tap directions to walk straight to you.

Followers

Customers can tap the bell on your van. When you go live they get a nudge on their phone — once a day at most, so it never spams. Every follower is a repeat customer waiting to happen.

Your QR code

There's a QR code for your van in your panel. Stick it on the hatch or hand it out — customers scan, land on your van, and follow you. A one-time customer becomes a regular in five seconds.

Your free directory listing

Event customers — birthdays, weddings, fêtes, offices — search by postcode and find vans that serve their area, with your ✓ Verified badge and a 📞 Call button.

👋 The Wave

Anyone can "wave for ice cream" — an anonymous signal that says there's demand in my neighbourhood right now. Waves fade after 12 hours. It's neighbourhood-level only — never a person, a house or a headcount. (Tier 3 drivers get the radar that shows where the waves are — see below.)

Your own web address — djelato.com/drivers/your-name — with your story, photos, a favourites menu, your usual spots, social links and a tip jar. Somewhere to send customers, link from social media, or put on the van.

Customers are learning that a Djelato van is a checked, insured, licensed van. Every driver flying the badge makes the whole community more trusted — and more bookable.

Trading past your licence expiry is an offence under council rules, so an expired licence pauses your map presence and badge until your renewal lands. Renew early and you'll never have to think about it.
